On April 10th, 2018, Chengqi Ran, Director of the China Satellite Navigation Office, and Muhammad Bin Ammo, Secretary-General of Arab Information and Communication Technology Organization, signed the "the Declaration of Holding the Second Session of China-Arab States BDS Cooperation Forum in 2019 in Tunisia" in Tunisia. The signing ceremony\was under the witness of Abdul Latif Abid, Deputy Secretary General of Arab League Secretariat, Sabri Bashtabuji, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tunisia, Emir Bayati, the Deputy Minister of Communications of Iraq, Ali Maygeri, the President of Tunisia Al Jazara Science Park, Pingyi Li, the Chargé d’affaires of Chinese Embassy in Tunisia, and Mohammed A. Al Shafee, the Chargé d’affaires of Arab League representative office in China. The declaration signing marked the Second Session of China-Arab States BDS Cooperation Forum officially entering the preparatory cycle.
According to the declaration, the Second Session of China-Arab States BDS Cooperation Forum is scheduled to be held in March or April of 2019 at Tunisia. By convention, the Chinese Secretariat of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum, Secretariat of Arab League, China Satellite Navigation Office, and Arab Information and Communication Technology Organization (AICTO) will jointly sponsored this Forum. Tunisia’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research will specifically responsible for hosting this Forum.
Both China and Arab League agreed to jointly promote and bring the consensus of “the Declaration of Holding the Second Session of China-Arab States BDS Cooperation Forum in 2019 in Tunisia” into the Action Plan (2018 –2019), which is intend to be signed during the 8th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum.
