The 45th BDS satellite was successfully launched onboard a Long March 3C rocket from Xichang Satellite Launch Center at 23:48 on May 17th, 2019.
This satellite, the 4th BDS-2 backup satellite, will operate on a GEO orbit. This satellite will join the BDS constellation to provide reliable services for users and to enhance the constellation stability, upon completion of its on-orbit test.
The satellite and the launch vehicle used in the mission are developed by China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) and China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT) respectively, both of which are affiliates to China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. This is the 304th flight of the Long March rocket family.
