The 12th China Satellite Navigation Conference opens in Nanchang

Date:26/05/2021
The 12th China Satellite Navigation Conference (CSNC) opened from May 26 to 28 in Nanchang, east China's Jiangxi Province. It is also the first conference in the new stage of China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) after the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) has provided global service.
This year's conference, with the theme of "empower the future by data of space and time", aims to fit the development trend of contemporary revolution of science and technology, outline the vision of Beidou application in the future society, fully demonstrate the significance of satellite navigation service for the future development, promote the in-depth integration of BDS with various fields, and work with all parties to draw a bright future of BDS.
The conference has five major activities, including summit forum, academic exchange, high-end forum, achievement exhibition and science popularization, attracting more than 3,000 delegates. Top experts, scholars and industry leaders from satellite navigation sector will focus on the current situation, dynamics and future trends of satellite navigation development, discuss and exchange with each other to have insight into the future development, and promote the vigorous development of satellite navigation.
During the conference, satellite navigation authorities representatives from China, the United States, Russia, the European Union, Japan and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs will introduce the latest progress of their satellite navigation systems and the work of the United Nations in this field.
Famous experts and scholars from satellite navigation and related fields at home and abroad will focus on "science and technology" and "application and industrialization", and discuss the integrative and innovative application and future development of BDS, so as to fully tap the huge potential of spatio-temporal data in the information age.
The year 2021 is a significant year for China and the BDS. After 27 years of construction and development, the BDS has become a world-class system with powerful functions and advanced performance, accelerating the application of various featured services.
At present, the BDS has served transportation, public safety, disaster relief and mitigation, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, urban governance and other industries. It integrated into infrastructure construction in China's key industries such as communication, finance, electric power and water conservancy. The BDS also accelerated its service in mass consumer electronic products, to apply in daily life and serve the people.
Integration of platform, data, technology and terminal has become a new modes for BDS to combine with other new technologies. New application models and forms are emerging, which injects new vitality and driving forces into economic and social development, and empowers industries to upgrade.
This year is at the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period and marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). In response to this background and the theme of the conference, a series of activities including a comprehensive exhibition, a BDS legal forum and a publicity and promotion forum will be held, focusing on the development of satellite navigation.
The exhibition fully demonstrates the extraordinary development and first-class service capability of BDS under the the strong leadership of the CPC, and the role of BDS as the cornerstone of national economic construction and social development, and as a major national space-time infrastructure. A large number of achievements of the integration and application of the BDS system are exhibited for the first time, showing the integration of the BDS system with emerging technologies such as Internet of Things, unmanned driving, artificial intelligence and 5G communication, as well as the new applications and industries boosted by the integration.
Focusing on the legal construction of BDS, the legal forum invited representatives of relevant departments and industry experts to carry out discussion and exchange on the legal issues related to BDS, and discuss legal solutions to issues such as short message service and high-precision location service.
The publicity and promotion forum, centered on the promotion of the BDS brand, invited the national publicity authorities, relevant media and colleges to jointly discuss how to serve BDS in its new stage of globalization and industrialization development, boost the BDS application and promotion, and strengthen its influence.
A series of forums are held during the conference, focusing on the application of BDS, BDS industrial park development, BDS and education, the application of BDS in enterprises managed by central government, the integration of navigation, communication and remote sensing, BDS and smart ecology, BDS and manned space, BDS and new infrastructure, the application of BDS in aviation industry and the BDS application industry in Jiangxi Province.
The conference participants exchanged their academic opinions on topics such as the industrial application of satellite navigation, public application of satellite navigation, satellite navigation system and enhancement, satellite orbit and precise positioning, time frequency and precise timing, autonomous navigation and intelligent operation, satellite navigation signal processing, satellite navigation user terminal, PNT system and new PNT technology.
In order to give full play to its academic evaluation role, the BeiDou Award, specially set up by the CSNC Scientific Committee, will be presented at the conference along with a number of awards including academic, application and popular science.
The awards are also expected to encourage domestic and foreign scholars actively participate in the navigation industry, and serve for the global application and promotion of the BDS.
Along with the CSNC, the 12th China Satellite Navigation Expo (CSNE) will be held at the same time. The CSNE will fully display the achievements and application development of the BDS through interactions among enterprises, scholars, talents and the public.
The construction and development of the BDS will continue to break down the boundaries of the BDS application fields. And the BDS will stick to its pursuit of serving a community with a shared future for mankind.
Adhering to the development concept of "China's BeiDou, the world's BeiDou, and the first-class BeiDou," China will build a more ubiquitous, more integrated, and more intelligent national integrated positioning, navigation and time service system by 2035, and build a spatio-temporal information service infrastructure covering the sky, the earth and the sea, with unified benchmarks, high precision, high security, high intelligence, high flexibility, and high efficiency.
The CSNC is organized by the Academic Exchange Center of China Satellite Navigation Office, and undertaken by the office of military-civilian integration development committee of Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee and Nanchang Municipal People's Government.
The annual conference also gets support from China Satellite Navigation Office, the China Manned Space Agency, the Department of Treaties and Law under the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the Department of Science and Technology under the Ministry of Education, the Department of High-tech Development and Industrialization under the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Department of Defense under the Ministry of Finance, the First Division of Systems Engineering under the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the Department of Comprehensive Planning under the Ministry of Transport, the Sci-Tech Innovation and Social Responsibility Bureau of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the R&D and Production division at China Satellite Launch and Tracking Control General, the China National Administration of GNSS and Applications, the Bureau of Major R&D Programs Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Bureau of International Cooperation Chinese Academy of Engineering, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Limited, China North Industries Group Corporation Limited, China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, China Satellite Network Group Co., Ltd., Jiangxi Provincial People's Government, and GNSS &LBS Association of China.
